Star Health Clinic offers a powerful combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment modalities. After a comprehensive holistic healthcare assessment, Dr. Jane Kim will recommend the appropriate combination of treatments for your condition.
ACUPUNCTURE Acupuncture is one of the most effective ways to unblock energy (Qi) flow and restore the body to a state of balance. Acupuncture is performed by inserting very fine, sterile needles into carefully selected points along the body. Sometimes the patient will feel very little, a dull sensation, or an energetic sensation briefly through the area as a blockage of energy is relieved.
Sensitive to needles? Acupuncture
needles are not hollow like hypodermic needles. Consequently, they are
much thinner than you might imagine. In many cases, you will not feel
the needle being inserted. Nonetheless, if you are sensitive to
needles, you may choose from other treatment options, including
Acupressure, Herbs, Moxabustion, Tui Na or Cupping.

ACUPRESSURE Patients sensitive to needles may opt for acupressure treatments. Rather than needles, physical, hands-on pressure is applied to specifically chosen points on the body to rebalance energy and improve health.
HERBAL MEDICINE Herbal medicine is based on over 4,000 years of knowledge passed down from generations of healers. It is the oldest, continually practiced professional medicine. Prescriptions are based on your individualized pattern and disease diagnosis. Your pattern is made up of signs, symptoms, emotions, temperament, and overall body composition. The herbal prescription is designed to target the individual pattern as well as the symptom or disease. An herbal medicine prescription may include 6 to 18 different herbs. Herbal medicine is a complete system, containing physical, biological, and chemical properties.
Dr. Kim will formulate an herbal prescription specific for your condition. She makes the medicine at a separate sterile facility and packages each liquid serving individually to help make it convenient and easy for you to take your medicine consistently. Occasionally herbs are provided in pill form or as dry herbs for you to boil into tea at home.
MOXIBUSTION Moxibustion is a technique in which a Natural herb called mugwort or Artemisia Vulgaris is used to apply heat to an acupuncture point. It is used to treat certain debilitating conditions as well as arthritis and pain. Moxa is usually rolled into a stick the size of a cigar, lit, and held over specific areas of the body. Patients enjoy a warm, soothing sensation. Moxa can also be placed onto the handle of an acupuncture needle, allowing deeper penetration of heat. The heat is never applied close enough to burn or cause discomfort.
CUPPING Cupping is a technique where a glass cup or bamboo jar is suctioned onto the body and allowed to sit for about ten minutes. This technique stimulates circulation, relieves swelling, and greatly enhances an acupuncture treatment. Cupping is used for many conditions, including: back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, common colds and influenza.
TUI NA Tui Na is the traditional system of Asian style physical therapy or massage. It is used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance treatments in a variety of musculo-skeletal conditions.
